Where the Idea Came From

Eight sided dice have been sold commercially for I Ching use, although they are usually designed only to generate trigrams. They offer alternative readings that show how your situation may be evolving over time.

So instead of one die for a trigram, I tried using six dice, one for each line of the hexagram. Each number on the die maps to a line type: yin, yang, changing yin, or changing yang. You roll all six dice at once, read the numbers from bottom to top, and you have your hexagram in a single moment.

It feels like the oracle arrives whole, not piece by piece.

How You Do It

Right now, because the special dice do not exist, you use regular eight sided dice with numbers from one to eight. Each number corresponds to a specific line type. Roll all six dice together, note the numbers, and enter them into RamapaniChing.
